Our Middle School Robotics Team is in the midst of building their robot for this season's robotic competitions. We thought you'd like to see what the theme is this year and all the hard work our students have to put into the process of building a robot that can complete specific tasks! If your middle school student is interested in joining we still have a few spots left on our incredibly, talented team. We meet Monday and Wednsday's afterschool until 5:00 PM.

The high school chemistry classes did a Calorimetry lab today. In this Cheeto combustion lab students were studying the transfer of energy from one system to another and understanding how calories in our food are measured.

Coffee with a counselor is back.
Please join me on Friday, October 4th at 9am for Coffee with the Counselor! Intervention Specialist, Jennifer Gretzmacher, will be joining us for a discussion on building healthy habits at home and understanding your child’s behavior. We will meet in the elementary counseling office (Room 111). Coffee and pastries will be provided. As always, please feel free to come with any questions or concerns you may have. The 1st Annual Glen Lake Fall Flannel Festival prep is underway! The pumpkins and apples have been delivered! With all the activities lined up, it's sure to be a hit! Touch a truck and apple cider pressing are such fun hands-on experiences, and who doesn't love a good pie-eating contest? Giant Jenga, corn hole and sack races will provide lots of outdoor entertainment! Make sure to check out the sheep herding demonstration by Tall Cotton Dogs, the local fire department trucks and gear and Bear Force One with the National Park Service. But that's not all! Inside the school, there will be a book walk, face painting and bounce houses! With all the fun activities planned, let's not forget the delicious food - a pig roast with delicious sides and donuts! Pumpkins and Mums will also be for sale! The Glen Lake Marching Band will be providing music throughout the event! It sounds like a perfect start to the Fall Season. We hope to see you there - Saturday, September 28th, from 11am-3pm at Glen Lake School!
Homecoming Spirit Week is next week (Sept. 30-Oct 4)! All students are invited to show their spirit by dressing up!
The Fall Flannel Festival Food Drive kicks off today! Drop any non-perishable food items in the boxes located in the superintendent's lobby, Middle School hallway or outside the High School office anytime this week to support Leelanau Christian Neighbor! The winner of the food drive (elementary, middle or high school) will be announced at the Fall Flannel Festival on Saturday, Sept. 28th.
Glen Lake Community Schools is hosting two community conversations about the November 5th bond election. District leaders will share detailed information about the proposed projects and answer specific questions about the bond request. The first Community Conversation is October 1 from 9-10am and the second is October 21st from 6-7pm, both in the auditeria.
The Glen Lake PTO is kicking off the 2024/2025 school year with their first meeting on Monday, September 16th at 6:30pm in the elementary library.
We hope you'll join for a little meet-and-greet, hear what's new from the Principal, and plunge into the latest news and updates on PTO projects. We want to hear your ideas, suggestions and thoughts during our open floor meeting.

If you made your way out to the Northwestern Michigan Fair this week I'm sure you saw many Glen Lake students and their 4H projects. Proud of all these students for the hard work and dedication it takes to get to this week. There were many championship banners and ribbons to be seen hanging over Laker pens.
