ABOUT US
We are Leelanau County's only free after-school program for 6th through 12th graders.
Leelanau Investing For Teens (LIFT) is a teen center based in Suttons Bay, MI dedicated to empowering local youth to discover their strengths by investing in their evolution, autonomy, and character.
Our afterschool programming takes place Mondays through Fridays for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Suttons Bay, Northport, and Glen Lake Schools and we partner with area high schools to support 9th through 12th graders socially and emotionally.
Your 6th, 7th, or 8th grader is invited to join LIFT after school for fun activities, games, homework help, and snacks. Our space is located within Glen Lake Middle School and pick-up is promptly at 5:30 pm. Sign your student up using this link.
VOLUNTEER
WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS
There are 8 adults for every 1 child in Leelanau County. LIFT consists of a small staff because we believe community investment is as important to a young person's development as the care and attention they receive from parents and teachers. We rely heavily on community members to empower our students and programs. Here are a few ways you can help:
Program Volunteers: Our teens need and deserve one-on-one attention; someone to listen to, interact and take interest in their lives. Meaningful relationships grow as volunteers are consistently available to play games, help students get involved with LIFT activities, and engage in conversation. Days and hours may vary depending on your schedule.
Graphic Design or Video Expertise: Volunteers with graphic design skills or video production/editing experience to assist with promoting LIFT programs and special events.
Maintenance: LIFT needs handy, helpful people to pitch in periodically for light to moderate repairs.
Administration: General office duties; mailings, printouts, excel spreadsheets, and recording attendance.
Special Event Planning: Planning and preparing for LIFT Teen special events or fundraisers.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU?
We take our youth stewardship in this community very seriously. That's why we set high standards for our volunteers. We ask the following of you in order to volunteer with our teens.
Background Check: We will require your permission to run a thorough background check to ensure the safety and security of our students, staff, and fellow volunteers.
Volunteer Guidelines: When you sign up to volunteer with LIFT, you are required to read and commit to a set of guidelines that will support positive relationships between you and our teens and staff.
Volunteer Orientation: Within the first few months of your volunteering, we will ask that you attend one of our regularly scheduled volunteer orientations to learn more about our organization as well as some crucial information for interacting with teens today.
Commitment: Consistency is one of the most important factors in a successful youth program. We ask that you demonstrate a consistent commitment to our program and students.

Holiday Makers Mart
The High School LIFT Makers Mart occurred during lunch with some fun craft options. The Middle School students were able to spend a portion of afternoon class time creating special gifts for loved ones.
